My ratty old Nikon had finally run its course (RIP), so last month I felt it was finally time for me to treat myself to a more advanced piece of equipment. I just recently picked up a Mark II 5D and invested in photography classes. Here are a few of the test shots I’ve taken as I practice different methods and techniques. Follow my work in progress as I shoot through the ides of winter. You can expect a weekly or bi-weekly photo journal entry from me for now on. Enjoy! One love, Fisheye.
FREE/MAN | Visit: Old Faithful Shop
Although things don’t get to manifest on here as quick as we would like them to, do not get it twisted, we stay working. We’re not saying that it’s not a challenge to upkeep the site, we’re just saying that real life scenario vs. web publishing has become a tough balance. One of our latest ventures has us working closely with one of our personal favourite menswear publications/retail shops, FREE/MAN. We spent a day this week in Gastown filming and plotting on a special project we’ve teamed up on. Darian inconspicuously snapped a few photos throughout the day in and around the Old Faithful Shop. See for yourself in the link below.

Birthdays with the December Born Crew

This was just one of those nights where family and friends came together for some joint birthday shenanigans. We parked ourselves at HousexGuest in gastown and proceeded with brewskies, cocktails, bottles of wine and one shot wonders. And as you may guess, it got bad, real bad – Michael Jackson. Pardon if this looks like a Facebook photo album, this is just how we roll sometimes.
Spreading The Word: Red Flag Design, Coquette Designer Consignment & An Evening with Mori Pablo
Continuing with our act of spread-worthy news we relay some info on two great pop-up shops and an evening event with a talented local artist. The first pop-up shop is one that is held annually by Red Flag Design just before Christmas. This year the shop opened up this past Wednesday and will run until the 24th. For those of you who are in Victoria, a great pop-up shop is being held by Coquette Designer Consignment. Their first run occurred last weekend but fear not as they will be open this weekend and on the 16th-18th. Last but not least our good friend Mori Pablo is inviting everyone in Vancouver to come and socialize with her on December 13th at Raw Canvas. She is currently displaying her collection of paintings and will do so until January 3rd.

Occupy Vancouver Week 2

It’s the second week as protestors occupy the front lawns of the Vancouver Art Gallery. A protest rally against financial inequality, inspired by the Occupy Wall Street movement in New York City, which began weeks ago, emerged in at least 15 Canadian cities last weekend, including Vancouver, Calgary, Toronto and Victoria. After missing last week’s rally, and yesterday’s Group Take-over at downtown TD bank for photos, I decided to head down to see what this whole rally is about. Check out some of my shots from the Art Gallery.
