Cutlery

Special Edition Wooden Block Set
The cutlery department of Victorinox knows what it takes to offer a precision tool in the kitchen. With their professional line there is no secret that they rank amongst the best because of their quality and design. The one thing that really stood out to us was this special edition wooden block set. Created by Executive Chef Daniel Humm of three Michelin star-rated Eleven Madison Park in New York, the block set is made of Elm and mounted on a swiveling base. From a design standpoint, the little ledger at the bottom of the block allows you to display recipes which is a very nice option. I must say that it was also nice of them to have an iPad sitting on the ledger instead of a cookbook. Totally sold us.

Field Dressing Kit
This is everything a hunter needs to take care of his game in the field as well as the butchering and final preparation before cooking. The commercial-grade blades that are handcrafted in Switzerland should be enough reason for you to have. If that doesn’t do it for you then the tested and true Fibrox Pro handles that offer a secure grip should shut ‘er down. Also can’t forget that the entire kit comes with a one 8-piece cutlery roll that makes life in the woods a little easier.

The kit includes:
10″ Swiss Classic steel sharpener   •   10″ cimeter knife   •   8″ breaking knife   •   6″ boning knife   •   6″ fillet knife   •   3 1/4″ pairing knife

Timepieces

From the cutlery department we moved onto the timepieces and it looked like every piece on the table was right up our alley. From the Chrono Classics to the limited edition Alpnach Mechanical Chronograph, each piece adhered to our every need.

Original Chronograph
This set had my eyes locked at first glance. With a clean and classic design, the Original Chronograph is offered in four models and all sporting the NATO straps. The size of the face is perfect on this design at 40mm. The watch is 1/10th of a second for precision timing and also has 60 second and 30 minute counters.

Air Boss Power Gauge
The leather straps and the stitching work well in unison with the design as a whole. The feature behind this one is the power reserve gauge.

Available: Winter ’12   •   Price: $1,695

Limited Edition Alpnach Mechanical Chronograph
The heavy hitter award in the timepiece department goes to the Limited Edition Alpnach Mechanical Chronograph. Now this one is definitely one of our favourites, and it’s no mystery why. Designed as one model on a high tech nylon and leather strap, the limited edition watch will be limited to 445 pieces worldwide. The casing is stainless steel with black PVD and also features a unidirectional rotating bezel with a countdown scale. The chronograph functions include 60 second, 30 minute and 12 hour counters and also has the reserve gauge.

Available: Winter ’12   •   Price: $3, 695

Swiss Army Knives

This part of the showing was what I was really interested in. Growing up I always wanted a Swiss Army Knife but never got around to owning the real deal. After playing around with one and really feeling the quality of its build, there’s no doubt why they are the truth.

The hardwood handle of the Spartan Knife had me at hello. Being in the smaller size department but still packing a full necessity load are my wants in a pocket knife. Offering a large blade, can opener, corkscrew, screwdriver, tweezers and toothpick, the 3 1/2″ Spartan is perfect for my needs.

Alox
A favourite pick of ours from the knives department features a neat money clip. Known as the Alox, being 3″ long and made of aluminum makes it the perfect size to host those folded bills.

Available: Now   •   Price: $44

Available for Spring ’12 is the Day Packer Utility Knife available in 7 great colours. It features a single clip-point blade which is a great everyday tool for any enthusiast.

Available: Spring ’13   •   Price: $32

Fashion

I must say that I was surprised and also very impressed with the clothing. Not knowing enough about the fashion side of Victorinox clothing made the experience of trying on each piece even better. My favourite of the group is this Explorer Jacket. Being lightweight and made of 100% polyester makes this jacket perfect for the spring. Featuring underarm ventilation and zip closure security pockets are essential for a spring piece.
