Reading Material: ACQTASTE Magazine Issue No. 1

While perusing the product and wares at last week’s Gentlemen’s Reserve I was able to pick up the very 1st issue of ACQTASTE magazine. I’ve been an avid follower of their online publication and personally couldn’t wait to handle the physical product in my hands. I’m pleased to see that Editor-in-Chief, Chuck Ortiz, and his talented team have laid out an awesome piece of work featuring 98 pages with focus on food culture, operative word being culture. They successfully focus on the intersections of food, design, architecture, etc. and in turn, cater to more audiences than one. An interesting read to say the least. The articles in here are nothing short of informational and even surprising.

If you don’t know about the magazine or about Acquired Taste, learn more at their website, ACQTASTE, to find out what they’re all about. Preview some pages in the cut.

Without giving too much away we’ve been permitted by Chuck and the gang to preview some of the guts. You can get a quick feel of the aesthetics inside and the size of the magazine.

Table of Contents, neat and tidy. They take a truly unique approach to food culture; it’s a rather refreshing concept to tackle and succeed at. For example, alongside some great stories behind the success of popular restaurateurs, inside you’ll also find an article dedicated to a diligent dishwasher and a spread on fashionable aprons.

ABOVE and BELOW: Have a super quick peek at some of the photo spreads.

Taking in an image of a featured recipe book by Stephane Reynaud that puts major focus on visual presentation of food.

Congrats to the ACQTASTE team for delivering a fine piece of Reading Material for food lovers and likers alike. With this debut issue focusing solely on your hometown of Toronto, it’s exciting to see where the 2nd issue takes you and ultimately, your readers.
