’91 Après Ski 2011

On December 17, 2011 the 2nd annual ’91 Aprés Ski went down at the Bossanova Ballroom in Portland, OR 300+ neon ski bums raided their closets (and closest Goodwill) to represent in the name of charity. Highlights included a mystery guest appearance by an abominable snowman (winner of best dressed), crushing the SHOTKSI into oblivion, an avalanche of great music by DJ Gemo, 12 inches of fresh powder on the dance floor, complimentary beers by Widmer Bros. Brewing, spread eagles, and a midnight pizza buffet. The only thing better than a furry white Yeti is the neon blue hair of Dave Reti!

BALL SO HARD | NBA Fantasy League | Week 3

Ahhh…another week goes down in our NBA fantasy league. I’m starting to think this lock out wasn’t so bad after all because isn’t it fu*king awesome to have multiple games on everyday? One thing I’ve began to notice about this new season is that the young guns are taking over the league. Move over Duncan, move over Kobe…actually not Kobe…but move over McGrady. Players like Love, Wall, and Aldridge are starting to dominate. This week, all 6 head to head match ups stayed pretty close and Sunday’s games gave us our final results. FREE/MAN | Visit: Old Faithful Shop

Although things don’t get to manifest on here as quick as we would like them to, do not get it twisted, we stay working. We’re not saying that it’s not a challenge to upkeep the site, we’re just saying that real life scenario vs. web publishing has become a tough balance. One of our latest ventures has us working closely with one of our personal favourite menswear publications/retail shops, FREE/MAN. We spent a day this week in Gastown filming and plotting on a special project we’ve teamed up on. Darian inconspicuously snapped a few photos throughout the day in and around the Old Faithful Shop. BALL SO HARD | NBA Fantasy League

Once we got word that our beloved NBA was actually going to return and resume the 2011-2012 season, being the avid basketball stans we are, we immediately created a fantasy league between 12 dudes, 5 being from team HUE. Being only 66 games, there were so many story lines coming into the season. Without Phil Jackson, will Kobe ever be able to match Jordan’s ring collection? Will Kevin Durant dominate this season and win his first Most Valuable Player award? Who remembers his performance at Rucker Park? With another year added to their dusty belts, would the aging Boston Celtics have enough for one more epic run at the trophy? And after a beastly rookie season, and with Chris Paul now manning the point, will Blake Griffin literally shatter backboards into pieces like Shaq did back in the day? I hope so because Young Blake was my 2nd pick.
